First Major Storm of the Season

The first major snow storm of the season is blowing across the Rockies with record breaking temperatures for this time of year. Accuweather.com reports: “Various record cold temperatures were recorded from Washington to Nevada. Boulder, Mont., saw a record cool high of 40 degrees on Friday. This broke the long-standing record of 42 degrees dating back to 1893.”

Some areas have received up to three feet of snow already with more expected to come.  With the quick onset of hazardous driving conditions, people in the western region should be prepared for dangerous road conditions, drive with caution and beware of ice under snow and across bridges where it is sometimes hard to see. A severe weather watch is still in effect for the northern Rockies.
