Cappuccino Christmas Cookies - A German Holiday Recipe

Christmas Cooking Recipes – CIDANews.com (Oklahoma City) Good Morning guests and welcome to “Sabrina’s Kitchen”. Today we are going to be looking at a wonderful holiday treat that you can easily make at home for yourself or you can give them to a friend. They are what I call: “Cappuccino Pick-Me-Ups” (a German holiday treat), and they are great in the morning with that first cup of coffee or if you happen to run out of coffee.

This is the perfect Christmas cookie to go with your morning coffee, and it is easily made.

Cappuccino Cookie Recipe:

You will need:
1 stick margarine
3/4 to 1 cup powdered sugar – less if the cappuccino powder is already sweetened
2 cups flour
2 heaped tablespoons cappuccino powder

For the glaze:
more powdered sugar, instant coffee powder or cappuccino powder, rum if desired, hot water

cookie press

Beat margarine and sugar until creamy white. Add cappuccino powder and flour to form a soft cookie dough. Fill cookie press and make a long string from the star shaped insert (the kind you might use for cream) onto your cookie sheet, then divide into s-shapes or other “ringlets” as desired.  If no cookie press is handy just drop teaspoonfuls of dough onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375°F until light brown. Let cool.

Make powdered sugar glaze by mixing approx 3 tablespoons powdered sugar with 1 teaspoon coffee powder (dissolved with hot water). Add liquids until you have a not-too-runny paste. Glaze half of your cookie with it. Let dry and store in cookie box – or eat – or give away!

Bon Appetit.
